Our team of coaches are here to pass on their expertise to you whether you’re an aspiring Tour Professional, serious club golfer or enjoy your recreational golf. Matt, Scott and Laurence have some of the friendliest faces in the business and make learning a fun and rewarding experience.
With over 70 years of combined coaching experience and 1000’s of satisfied students, there really is no better place to improve your golfing skillset.
Our ethos is not to coach using one method but to utilise all of our knowledge and experiences to find the correct solution for the individual. Any aspect of the game can be covered during coaching sessions and we benefit from the access to an undercover floodlit driving range powered by Toptracer, Par 3 course (The Little Bristol), Championship 18 hole golf course, short game area and putting green.
If group coaching is what your after then look no further! We run regular group sessions throughout the week as well as a Ladies Academy and The Golfway Junior Academy.
We are an authorised Explanar training centre, DST training centre and use Trackman 4 and video analysis where necessary.

Matt Law
Head PGA Professional
Matt brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise and will oversee all coaching services at the club and within the Academy.
Following a fantastic amateur career both in the UK and the US, Matt has worked as a professional for six years at Chippenham Golf Club and Farrington Golf Club.
Matt is Titleist performance institute level 2 qualified (TPI) which allows him to link the body’s restrictions to swing faults and work out the best solution to solve these problems.
He also specialises in putting and uses the latest CAPTO putting software to help golfers understand their putting strokes and offer the best solution to help them improve.

Scott Bridgeman
Scott first picked a golf club at the age of the 3 and hit shots on and off until the age of 8 where he took it up seriously, after a successful junior career playing at the Bristol golf club where he was junior captain and played for the first team for many years.
Starting his professional career at Filton Golf club and then a move to Bristol and Clifton to continue his coaching journey. Now fully qualified Scott has joined the team back at The Bristol.
Scott has passion for coaching and enjoys helping people improve on their game. He now looks more into the putting mechanics and how to help you hole more putts and lower your scores.
Along with Laurence, Scott works to grow the junior golf at The Bristol from the Junior academy to teaching schools such as Tockington Manor, Clifton High and Clifton College.
Laurence Vargas
Laurence is a professional golfer from Chepstow, Wales.
Laurence started his professional journey in on the PGA Europro Tour and various mini tours, after securing playing rights at Q-School.
During his amateur golf career, he represented his country (Wales) multiple times from the age of 15 and competed against the greatest amateur players around the world. As an amateur, he won multiple events and finished in the top ten on multiple occasions.
Laurence’s PGA coaching journey started at Whitchurch Golf Club in Cardiff. As soon as Laurence heard of the plans for The Bristol, he decided he would bring his experience to the project.
Laurence has a strong passion for golf coaching. He has experience with all abilities helping them achieve their technical and performance goals. In addition, he has a drive and enthusiasm for retail and custom fitting. Since joining the Bristol he has assisted in growing the line of products available in the golf shop along with launching GripWorks. Laurence boasts extensive knowledge of the Trackman Launch Monitor and is known for finding the appropriate equipment for each individual player to improve their game.
Laurence works alongside Scott growing junior golf in Bristol, From the Junior Academy at The Bristol to working with the likes of Clifton College, Clifton High School and various other schools around Bristol.
